Love Your Body - Fitness Goals for February

It’s February. It’s cold outside. Motivation is low. Maybe you’ve let go of some of those New Year’s resolutions... It’s going to be okay! Starting—or restarting—your journey toward better health is often the hardest part. It takes willpower and a solid plan, but it’s 100% doable. Use this slow time of year to prioritize yourself and rediscover self-love.

I’m a huge supporter of body positivity. You should absolutely appreciate your body and all that it accomplishes every day. However, if there are things you’d like to change or improve about your physical appearance, there’s nothing wrong with that! Bettering yourself physically and mentally in a healthy way can improve your confidence, energy levels, sleep, and overall well-being.

The key to success is setting realistic goals that are sustainable and fit into your daily life. Lofty goals like “I want to lose thirty pounds in six months” can feel overwhelming and, without proper planning, may lead to frustration or burnout. Instead, start small. Set short-term goals with achievable timelines—think two weeks or one month at a time. This allows you to focus on the daily process rather than just the end result. For example, your monthly goal could be to exercise three times per week, limit alcohol and eating out to once a week, and journal daily. These habits will benefit both your physical and mental health and may become long-term lifestyle changes.

Goal setting and personal challenges don’t have to be solo efforts. Whether it’s a significant other or a friend, having external support can help keep you accountable. Challenge each other with weekly goals—step counts, protein intake, water consumption, etc. Make a date night or a friendly get-together an opportunity to cook a healthy meal together. Try a partner workout at the gym or go for a walk. While you can absolutely do it alone, a little extra support can go a long way.

Love Your Body - Fitness Goals for FebruaryPrioritizing mental health is just as important as physical health. In the chaos of daily life, we often forget to check in with ourselves. When was the last time you did something just for you—something that brings you joy and benefits your overall well-being? This month, take time to step away and spend intentional time alone. Whether it’s journaling, reading, listening to music, getting a facial, or going for a walk, find what brings you peace. If you need more guidance on this, check out my blog, The Importance of Self-Care.

When we feel good—physically and mentally—it radiates into our relationships, careers, and everyday lives. Confidence comes from within, and loving yourself is crucial. I know it’s easier said than done. But if you feel there are aspects of yourself you’d like to change, don’t fear that feeling. Acknowledging the desire to better yourself is a powerful step. The good news? You’re in control. Take this month to appreciate the incredible person you already are while setting small, attainable goals for the achievements you want to make this year
